Just when you think that Romance Studies has everything to do with romance novels or even poets of the Romantic movement such as Keats, Shelley, Byron Wordsworth, here comes the surprise: Romance Studies actually means the study of Romance languages, which include Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian which evolved from Vulgar (colloquial) Latin.
