Fight for education in mother tongue gets tougher for Odia speaking people in Jharkhand

Odia is not being taught in Jharkhand's schools as a primary language, depriving thousands of Odia-speaking children of their right to education in their mother tongue. The National Council of Teachers' Education (NCTE) has recently issued a notification excluding Odia language from the primary teachers' training programme in Jharkhand, adding to the woes of Odia people in the state.
